Corazon del Rio is in the Southern Pacific Region of Costa Rica. Located in the quiet mountain village of Platanillo known as the "Valley of the Waterfalls". Its 1000-plus foot elevation is much cooler than the coastal beach areas that are just a quick fifteen minute drive away. The small village has two grocery stores, a bakery, among other shops and restaurants.
A weekly farmer's market is just ten minutes up the road in Tinamaste, home of the Diamante Waterfall, the tallest waterfall in Costa Rica. Just Fifteen minutes more to the east is San Isidro, the second largest city in Costa Rica. The Nauyaca Waterfall one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Costa Rica, is just a short ten minute drive west from the casa to the trail headquarters. Further west fifteen minutes is the quaint surf town of Dominical. Neighboring Dominical is Hacienda Baru, a wildlife refuge. Just five minutes further north is Matapalo Beach, our local favorite. From there, a thirty minute drive north you can visit Manuel Antonio National Park which borders the harbor town of Quepos know for its world-class fishing. A twenty minute drive south of Dominical is Uvita, home of the famous Whale Tail and Whale Watching tours. A great location indeed!

The Pura Vida attitude. The laid-back lifestyle that Costa Rica is known for permeates daily.
Pura Vida pronounced POO-rah VEE-dah, in English means, "Pure Life" but has a far more profound meaning to the people of Costa Rica and anyone spending any amount of time in this majestic country. The term has been present in Costa Rican dialect for over 50 years.
No matter how little or how much you have in life, we are all here
together and life is short...so come and live it "pura vida style".
