Platanillo is in the yellow area illustrated below that averages 65 to 77 degrees fahrenheit, with average annual rainfall 120" - 160" Most rain falls during the late afternoon and evening hours, with the exception of October when it can fall during the day. Corazon del Rio (in Platanillo) is a 15 minute drive up from the balmy temperatures of the beach towns. At 1200 foot climate its usually 5 to 10 degrees cooler then the sea-level.
A tropical country because of how close it is to the equator, Costa Rica is unlike almost all other countries in the world...There is consistently about twelve hours of daylight per day for the entire year and temperatures are close to being the same year-round. With tropical weather is more or less divided into TWO SEASONS:
- The Dry Season, a.k.a: the High Season, considered summer, is from December to April. - The Rainy Season, a.k.a: the Green Season starts with a sunny morning followed by rain showers in the early to late afternoon.
